TESTIMONIALS
“My dad found Greg in the newspaper when we were looking for a singing teacher. Greg came over for a free lesson to see how well we could work together, and I immediately felt he was a great fit for me. Greg not only gave me vocal exercises and helped with my pronunciation, but he also listened to the songs I wrote, provided feedback, and worked on them with me. He even let me perform my original songs at his showcases, which was an incredible experience. Although I had to stop lessons when I went to college, I always cherished the time I had with Greg. If you're looking for a singing teacher for yourself or your child, regardless of age, Greg is truly the best of the best.” - Jake, a student at Chapman University
“As parents of a young student who has had the privilege of being under Greg’s tutelage, we have witnessed first hand his unparalleled dedication, expertise, and passion for his craft. From the onset, it is evident that Greg’s commitment to the arts is not just a job but a calling. He has an innate ability to bring music alive in the hearts and souls of his students, creating an environment that fosters creativity, discipline, and a deep appreciation for the art form. Whether he is imparting the foundational principles of music theory or delving into the intricate techniques of voice and instrument, Greg’s approach is both comprehensive and inspiring. Beyond his evident talent and expertise, what truly sets Greg apart is his genuine care and concern for his students. He recognizes the unique potential in each child and tailors his teaching methods to cater to individual needs, ensuring that every student feels valued, encouraged, and motivated to excel. Our daughter, for instance, has not only flourished academically under his guidance but has also developed a profound love and passion for music. Greg’s ability to integrate music into various facets of education underscores his versatility as an educator. He seamlessly weaves a beautiful tapestry of learning, demonstrating how music can enhance cognitive development, foster teamwork, and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment in students. We are profoundly grateful for the positive impact he has had on our daughter's life and are confident that he will continue to inspire and uplift countless others in his future endeavors.” - Dana, a parent from Los Angeles
“Almost every new situation is hard for us since our highly sensitive child really needs lots of space and warm-up to feel comfortable. Greg's first lesson felt like a breeze. Greg knows how to handle and teach a sensitive child, inspires in a way that speaks to him and cultivates his interest. Greg is very good with communications, knowledgeable and passionate. Your child would not only get the most amazing music lesson, but also get support to grow as a whole person. Apart from Piano, Greg is also teaching my 6 year old Logic Pro and he loves it that he could get creative with his electric piano using the software the moment he is starting to learn. Greg's way of life and teaching is so inspiring that his presence brightens up our lives and we are so lucky to have Greg as our son's music teacher. We have only had 3 lessons so far and we are already blown away. We cannot wait to have the ongoing weekly lessons and getting to know more and support each other through the process!” - Jun, a parent from Los Angeles
"Mr. Whitmore had a great impact on not only my love and passion for music but he also had an great impact about who I am as a person. He has been one of the best teachers I've ever had and he taught me so many things from how to read the basics of sheet music to life lessons I hold close to my heart. He helped me build up a confidence in my voice and helped me to be confident in who I was as an artist and as a person. He rekindled my love for music and I can't thank him enough for that because music is what I hope to do as a career and pursue all throughout my life. I’m now playing guitar along side singing and I am playing a little piano on the side. Mr. Whitmore helped me to see this gift I have, and he helped me shape it into something I can use all the time. He is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had, and I adore him and so do all of his students. We all miss him a ton. I am a much happier and confident person because of him and that’s something I never could do by myself." –Brooke, Theatre graduate of University of Southern California
"Greg Whitmore is the kind of teacher who strives to inspire and motivate his students by treating them like professionals and giving them the tools they need to become performing artists. Without Mr. Whitmore's encouragement, I might not have pursued a career as an actress. Now living and performing in New York, I constantly look back on and recall the confidence Greg instilled in me. He not only taught me how to be a good musician, but a respectful person and a hard working performer." – Chandler, Professional Musical Theatre Actor based in New York
"Mr. Whitmore taught me the value of my voice in a time during which I didn't believe that I had one. His instruction is thorough, personal, and very kind. He is a fantastic teacher, and a fantastic human being, who is always willing to help his students on their path to reaching their fullest potential." – Julia, a voiceover artist based in Los Angeles
"I cannot to begin to explain my gratitude towards Mr. Whitmore. When I first met Mr. Whitmore, I was a shy, quiet, eleven year old who didn't realize the potential in my singing voice. Mr. Whitmore not only immediately recognized my potential and nurtured my gift, but gave me a belief in my talent. He was the first person to tell me that I had the ability to pursue vocal performance at, eventually, a professional level. If it hadn't been for his coaching me early in my life as my choir director, I wouldn't be on the path I am now. He brought the possibility of private voice lessons to my attention and referred me to my first teacher, and fought for me to attend the TPSMEA State High School Vocal Competition at the age of twelve. Not only did he support me while I was his student, he continued to support me even when his career took him to New York, as he referred me to my current vocal coach though his connections in New York. He not only was always extremely professional, but truly had my best interests at heart. As I am about to begin the next phase of my vocal training at the college level, I am extremely grateful for the early influence and support Mr. Whitmore provided to me." – Olivia, vocal performance graduate of Furman University
"As a shy girl entering the Middle School, I thought music class would be an insurmountable hurdle. But right on the first day, Mr. Whitmore's bubbling enthusiasm and welcoming smile immediately washed away all my worries. Throughout Middle School, he helped me grow out of my shell, and his overall way of teaching instilled the lifelong passion I now have for music." -Nayla, a student from New York
"Greg is terrific in so many ways! He is patient, and is always working to share his years of experience and understanding. Greg is knowledgeable about all kinds of music; from him I have learned: classical, pop, voice, piano, and songwriting. Greg is professional with his time and mine. Last but not least, he cares deeply about seeing his students succeed. He still keeps in touch with students even once they move away or pursue other interests." - John, a student from Dallas
"I first met Mr. Whitmore when I was a student at Convent of the Sacred Heart, in sixth grade. At the time, I was very shy and nervous, and I was not very comfortable around people. As a result, I was not able to sing to my highest potential. I thought that what I was doing then WAS the best I could do, but thanks to Mr. Whitmore, I discovered that it was not...in fact, it was far from it. I worked with Mr. Whitmore almost every week on the side of participating in the school's choir and music classes, to practice singing the mass song that I would sing in front of the whole school. In seventh grade, Mr. Whitmore continued to help me pursue my passion for music when he gave me a solo for the song "Jesus What a Wonderful Child" in the Christmas concert. I left my school at the end of seventh grade and transferred to another school, but even though I left, I still had the privilege of being able to be taught voice lessons by Mr. Whitmore. I learned so much from Mr. Whitmore, and not just about music. There really are no words to describe how much of an impact he made on my life and my music career...one that still lasts today. I can only explain what he did. Those years were the ones that were the most vital in my growth, not only as a student, but as a whole person. He taught me that music does not just come to a person, but a person has to come to music. He taught me that a person cannot just expect success to just appear in front of his face. If one really wants something in life, he has to work for it. Above all, Mr. Whitmore taught me how to have confidence. He showed me how to accept myself, as well as how to take ownership of my work and progress. Confidence was the key for me, and I am so grateful that someone taught me that, because no one would have ever guessed how far I got over the course of only a few years as a result. I am now in a choir called the New York Chamber Choir, and I sang a solo called "In the Bleak Midwinter" at the Christmas concert. Mr. Whitmore has not only been a music teacher to me, but also a mentor and friend, and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to work with him. I would highly recommend that you work with Mr. Whitmore as well. There is a famous song from "Wicked," which I worked on with Mr. Whitmore in voice lessons, called "For Good." It says: "I've heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason, bringing something we must learn and we are led, to those who help us most to grow if we let them, and we help them in return. Well I don't know if I believe that's true, but I know I'm who I am today, because I knew you. Who can say if I've been changed for the better, but because I knew you, I have been changed...for good." Working with Mr. Whitmore is definitely worth your time, and something you won't regret, because it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You probably won't find another one like him. He changes not only your voice, but your life, for the better, and for good. Thank you for your time." - Samantha, a student from New York
"I've hesitated to actually complete this testimonial because I knew there was no way I could adequately describe all the reasons we love Greg in a simple paragraph. We met Greg when he was Samantha's music teacher in Middle School, at a crucial time in her development. Greg's support and encouragement of Samantha were as important as the actual musical theory and tools he was teaching her. It was important to Greg to convey to his students that he respected them as individuals and young adults. Through their shared passion for music and singing Greg and Samantha worked together even after Samantha left the school where Greg was teaching. Greg greatly helped Samantha to improve the quality of her voice, and the results are evident. Now a Junior in High School, Samantha just performed with the New York Chamber Choir, where she received praise for her solo, and pitch perfect singing!" - Madeline, a parent from New York
"I hired Greg to give voice lessons to my daughter. He is a music master and makes singing fun and teaches high level skills that my daughter uses everyday. I was impressed that Greg knew exactly how to help my daughter vocally, and the hour flew by. I saw a huge positive before and after in his vocal coaching sessions with my daughter. Very impressive teacher!" – Webb, a parent from New York
"I most highly recommend Greg. In fact, I have enthusiastically recommended him to friends who have also been thrilled with his work. Greg privately taught piano to both my daughter and son for several years. He also gave voice lessons to my daughter. Greg has a unique ability to help students exceed beyond what they believe is possible. He pushes students to reach their potential and his patience makes the experience both fulfilling and enjoyable. Greg's dedication and his obvious love of music make him an amazing teacher and mentor. He is also an incredibly talented artist and performer in his own right, which gives students a truly informed view of what it takes to successfully perform for an audience." - Beth, a parent from New York
"Greg Whitmore taught my son Dylan piano for two years in Manhattan. After going through many piano teachers for Dylan, Greg is the only teacher I found that could really connect with my son. Greg was very patient and helped Dylan excel in his piano studies. Since Greg moved, we have not been able to find a teacher to replace Greg. My father is also a piano instructor and has told me the books and techniques that Greg uses are the best in the music business. I highly recommend Greg!" - Tonia, a parent from New York
"My 9 year old son Charlie always looked forward to his weekly piano lessons with Greg. Greg imparted a love for music to my son that no teacher before it or after has been able to even come close to replicating. Greg is a gifted teacher and musician who combines the perfect mix of firmness and fun. My child was extremely fortunate to have Greg as his teacher." – Karen, a parent from New York
"Greg taught my daughter, Grace, in middle school choir. It was a great experience. Grace loved choir and loved Greg. He challenged his students to strive for their best; both in technique and in singing better and they met the challenge. He also made it fun. My daughter Grace liked his selection of music, his conducting, and his willingness to help her succeed. Greg is an excellent choir and music teacher. I highly recommend him for your child." - Lisa, a parent from Dallas
